The kayaksurf website was developed by Luis Pedro Abreu and is the world’s most popular platform for surf kayaking and waveski. It has done much to promote the sport since first launching online in 2000. The website is the first point of call for information on all things kayak surfing, from rankings and rules to gear and etiquette.

Kayaksurf.net has a news team that involves over 65 paddlers from 33 countries. They publish more than one thousand news articles each year, generating interest in the sport and keeping kayak surfers across the world updated with how their friends and competitors are progressing. In addition to the news, kayaksurf.net also contains special sections dedicated to photos, interviews, gear, links and more. 

Kayaksurf.net has contributed to the organisation of major events, such as the 2009 Kayak Surfing worlds, the 2011 Wave Ski worlds, the 2014 European Kayak Surfing Championships, the Iberian Cup (since 2012), and the 2016 Waveski worlds to be held in Portugal. It is also involved in various other national, european and world championships. 

With 8,000 followers on social media, the organisation has generated extensive sponsorship, connecting businesses and interested consumers. The kayaksurf.net logo has been used on event posters across all the continents and is becoming iconic to the sport.

Luis Pedro Abreu has given huge amounts of time and passion to the website and promotion of kayak surfing.

Luis Pedro Abreu is nominated for the Media Ambassador of the Year award for its promotion of the sport and distribution of paddlesports media across the globe.
