Mid-term update on public votes in each category for 2015 World Paddle Awards

There has been a good response on social media since the nominees were announced in the seven award categories late October.

There are some major players at this stage, but remember everything can change as we go into the final two weeks of public voting which closes end November 2015.

We are delighted to give you an update on the public votes so far.

• You have voted the most, out of the seven awards, for Sportswoman of the Year with 5,281  votes followed by 5,179  in the Junior category.
• The overall leader according to the public vote, is Lisa Carrington.

Here are the leaders (public vote) in each award; they are by no means the finalists at this point and the ongoing Academy vote is not yet included in the below:

• Sportsman: Rene Holten Poulsen - 759, Gerd Serrasolses - 601, Hank McGregor - 541 
• Sportswoman: Lisa Carrington – 1,873, Costanza Bonaccorsi - 833, Teneale Hatton - 670
• Lifetime Achievement: Only the WPA Academy will vote for this category.
• Foundation Award: Martin Dreyer - 1,074, Dennis Newton - 330, Damien Rider - 136
• Sports Junior: Sage Donnelly – 1,460, Alec Voorhees - 1,416, Luca Homonnai - 1,399 
• Media Professional: CanoeSport.ru - 1,191, Jan Homolka - 629, Melanie Chanvillard - 245 
• Industry Professional: KayakPro - 806, ICF World Championships Marathon Gyor - 383, National Student Rodeo - 263

Some really exciting and unpredictable trends so far but everything is to play for, nothing is set in stone!
