2016 World Paddle Awards - finalists announced!

Academy votes are now in, totalled with the Public vote, we are proud to reveal the three finalists for each of the WPA awards.
The finalists have been calculated based on the consolidated vote of both the Public and the Academy. For an explanation of the voting procedure click here and for detailed and practical example concerning the 2015 winners click here.
In each of the award categories, one of the nominees will win The Golden Paddle – a paddlesports 'Oscar'.
In alphabetical order, the 'Top 3' finalists of 2016 in each class are:
- Sportsman: Aniol Serrasolses (ESP), Curtis McGrath (AUS), Hank McGregor (RSA)
- Sportswoman: Emma Wiggs (GBR), Erin Bastian (GBR), Renata Csay (HUN)
- Best 2016 Olympians slalom/sprint: to be announced 18-02-2017 (four athletes)
- Lifetime Achievement: Finn Larsen (DEN), John Edwards (CAN), Paul Owen (GBR)
- Foundation Award: Jessie Stone (USA), Mike Dawson (NZL), Rok Rozman (SLO)
- Sports Junior: Klaudia Zwolinska (POL), Nadezhda Makarchenko (BEL), Sage Donnelly (USA)
- Media Professional: Justine Curgenven (GBR), Olaf Obsommer (GER), Red Bull (AUT)
- Industry Professional: Pollert Jr & Sr (CZE), Riverbox (FRA), Vejle Kajak Klub (DEN)
- Academy Award: The WPA Academy will decide whether there will be an Academy Award this year or not, which is up to their discretion.
Congratulations to all our finalists! But also of course to all of the 2016 nominees who have set a benchmark for paddlesports achievement.
The winners will be contacted and invited to attend the ceremony at the Montebelo Aguieira Lake Resort & Spa on Saturday 18th February 2017 when the results will be announced publicly to the world.
In uniting paddlesports disciplines, the buzz around this third year's Awards is representative of how far along our sports have come.
