A big city enriched in art, culture and history, and with a passion for sea kayaking, WPA is pleased to announce that Sant Pere de Ribes near Barcelona will host the 2016 WPA Ceremony.
The WPA ceremony promises to be another fantastic event following the success of the inaugural ceremony in Augsburg this year.
The event will continue to recognise the diversity of people and organisations in the paddlesports community and honour the hard work they put into our sport.
The program will be spread across three days from arrivals and dinner on the 11th, day program and awards dinner on the 12th and departures on the 13th.
Located just to the south of Barcelona, Sant Pere de Ribes is set high on the hillside in the Penedes wine region and is surrounded by the Garraf National Park, offering dramatic sea and mountain views.
This tranquil haven has more than 300 acres of private grounds with vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees. A perfect setting to recognise the wonderful contributions and outstanding achievers in the paddlesports community.
The exclusive wine estate will function as the venue, as well as providing accommodation for attendees in the main house and adjoining cottages.
The WPA ceremony will be for invited guests only: winners + partner, Academy members, sponsors and other guests.
Rob van Bommel, Executive Director WPA:"After the first ceremony in Augsburg the winners, guests and sponsors expressed their hope to continue the World Paddle Awards for many years to come. I really look forward to welcome the 2015 winners, their guests and several Academy members in Spain next year and we are already working on the 2017 and 2018 awards".
Antoine Goetschy, member of the WPA Academy: "The 2015 ceremony in Ausgburg felt like being part of the United Nations. The diversity of winners, the emotions we saw on the podium and amongst the guests: this evening we united the world of paddlesports".
The WPA ceremony will be covered through social media and several video productions post-event.
