RENATA CSAY (Hungary) - Nominee for 'Sportswoman of the Year'

- 2014: World Champion canoe marathon K1W and K2W (Oklahoma), World Championship bronze K1W 5000m (Moscow), European Champion canoe marathon K1W (Piestany)
- 2013: World Champion canoe marathon K1W, silver K2W (Copenhagen), World Championship silver K1W 5000m (Duisburg), European Champion canoe marathon K1W (Montemor)
Renata became double World Champion in the 2014 season in kayak singles and doubles marathon as well European Champion, defending once again her 2013 and 2012 title.
Previously before has Renata done the K1W and K2W double, 4 times in total, at the World Championships (2003, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014) and once at the Europeans (2007) – quite frankly staggering!
Perhaps Hungary's greatest ever marathon athlete, Renata's international career spans back until 1997. Her total canoe marathon medal collection needs an exceptionally large cabinet:
- World Championships: 15 gold (6xK1W, 9xK2W), 9 silver (3xK1W, 6xK2W)
- Europeans: gold (4xK1W, 4xK2W) and 1 silver (K2)
Renata's first world title was in her native Hungary on her home course at Györ back in 1999.
Since 2012 Renata has diversified, perhaps looking for a new challenge into 5000m; she has too excelled in this discipline claiming 2 European golds plus a World silver and bronze.
A true champion, the 37-year old is an unbelievable paddling force in the marathon community.
