LUKA BOZIC (LEFT) and SASO TALJAT (Slovenia) - Nominees for 'Team of the Year'

Luka Božič and Sašo Taljat ripped up the rest of the field at the 2014 Deep Creek World Championships, taking C2 gold with a scintillating run. The pair had a spectacular 2014 season, winning gold at the first slalom World Cup in Lee Valley, further World Cup bronze (Prague) and silver (Tacen) medals and bronze at the European Championships in Vienna. They went on to rank 3rd in the World Cup standings, and 3rd in the 2014 world rankings. C2 crews beware; Božič & Talat are on the rise toward Rio 2016!

Luka and Sašo are well-rounded athletes and enjoy cycling, cross-country skiing and running as part of their grueling training regime. The pair are certainly an inspiration for juniors to get involved in sport.

On top of their C2 success, Luka is the most improved C1 paddler on the international circuit for 2014, taking a bronze medal at the Tacen World Cup and a bronze in the C1M teams event at this year’s worlds. He is now ranked number 10 in the world.

Luka and Sašo have been nominated for Team of the Year for their consistent medal performances at world, European and World Cup events in 2014.

Activities and achievements off the water:

  • Luka and Sašo work with the Pelikan Institute: terapeutic communities established in the local environment for adolescents with drug addictions
  • Cooperation with Social protection and work centre Tolmin (adults with mental disorders)
  • They support sports association Sonček (Little Sun) where kids can spend some quality time practising sports
