Another young junior paddler who medalled in his first senior international World Championships taking away bronze in the C1 4x200m relay. Hungary has a rich history of dominant and successful canoe sprinters, joining this elite, Jonatán has an incredible future ahead of him.

At the Junior Worlds in 2014, he defended his Junior world title in C1 200m – the flagship event of high-kneeling canoe sprint. After winning the C1 1000m (5x times the 200m distance) Jonatán went straight onto win silver in the C2 1000m one hour later – a remarkable demonstration of strength, determination and fitness.

At the 2013 Junior World Championships in Welland, Canada, he and partner Kristof Khaut won the C2 1000m final with half a second over closest rivals Russians Shurinkin and Leontiev.

He started canoeing in 2005 and knew then as he quickly mastered the basics that he wanted to become a world class competitor. Jonatan went to his first international competition in 2011, an 'Olympic hopefuls' competition. He won second place at the Junior European Championship in 2012.

A real example to what you can achieve when you have the hunger to do so, Jonatán has been nominated numerous times by the public for the Junior WPA Award.

It is a great honour for me to be a nominee of this award.” Jonatan
