HANS PETER WEISS (Germany) - Nominee for the 'Paddlesports Professional' Award.

Hans Peter Weiss 'Hape' (49) from Zweibrücken, Germany, also known as Hape has volunteered for many years at canoe slalom World Cups and World Championships. From as early as 2007 his knowledge has been a great asset to the canoe slalom community, most notably in his coordination of the technical video service transition from analogue to digital.

As a result of this transition, there is now high definition video available for technical video analysis (analyzing the athlete's runs and coaching), video judging and internet broadcasting of international slalom races.

Hans is married with two daughters, but contributes his time to canoe slalom events on top of his regular job, travelling away from his work and family countless times each year.

Always kind and happy to help, Hans assists many of the smaller and developing nations by providing them with their race footage, leaving their coaches time to do their job.

Hundreds of athletes, coaches and support staff from around the world are grateful to Hans for his ever-friendly disposition and professional contributions to our sport. Hans is nominated for the ‘Paddlesport Professional’ award.

Activities and achievements off the water:

  • ICF International Official (ITO) for slalom. 2014 was Hans Peter's 25th anniversary as an ITO!
