Similar to the name and the logo (also read "What’s in a name? The World Paddle Awards") the statuette or the award for the World Paddle Awards created an interesting challenge.

Initially we started with the design of an athlete holding a canoe paddle in his/her hands like in the photo above or the video below. Similar to Academy Awards of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, commonly known as The Oscars, we soon realised that it was not only about the three dimensional design of the statuette; the award's name was just as important as the design itself.

This insight then brought us back to a similar thought process when we were brainstorming the name (The World Paddle Awards) and the logo. The Golden Paddle was born...

At the time of publishing this article we are in the middle of designing The Golden Paddle including a mould for reproduction of the award. Nelo, Global Partner of the World Paddle Awards, has accepted this beautiful challenge to design the most prestigious award for the world of competitive paddlesports.
