WPA Academy member Cora Zillich Rio 2016 Venue Media Manager for Rowing & Canoe Sprint

Writer: Laura Hale | Parasport News - After announcing her departure from Yachting Australia several months ago, Australian Sailing Team’s Cora Zillich official departure takes place this week. She has been serving as the organization’s Communications & Sponsorship Manager for Olympic & Paralympic boat classes since September 2013.

Later this month, Zillich is making the transition to Melbourne, where she has announced she will continue supporting the sport as a freelancer.  In May, she makes the move to Rio where will become the  Venue Media Manager for Rowing & Canoe Sprints.  This is a reprise of the same role she held for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.

Zillich leaves Australian Paralympic sailing well placed as it heads into what could be sailing’s appearance on the Paralympic program after having been cut from the 2020 Games because of lack of participation.  The country has qualified sailors in all three Paralympic classes based on results at the 2014 Disabled Sailing World Championships held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Matthew Bugg qualified Australia in the solo 2.4mR event, while Leisl Tesch and Daniel Fitzgibbon earned a spot in the  SKUD 18-class, and Colin Harrison, Jonathon Harris and Russell Boaden gave Australia its third and final spot in the  three-person Sonar class.
