The Academy votes two times: round one to select the top 3 and round two to rank the number 1 (3 points), number 2 (2 points) and number 3 (1 point). See example in the above.

The winner in this example is Nominee 4 with 63.33 points: 33.33 + 30 in the red circles above and below. Detailed explanation:
- The Academy has given Nominee 4 six points. Total number of points is 18 (7+6+5=18). Six points (for Nominee 4) is 33.33% of the total number of points (18).
- The public has voted 300 times for Nominee 4 (250+20+30=300). The total number of votes is 1000 (150+300+100+300+150=1000). 300 Votes (for Nominee 4) is 30% of the total number of votes (1000).
- The total number of percent-points for Nominee 4 is 33.33 + 30 = 63.33
