As another fantastic season draws to a close, it is once again time to come together and celebrate the year’s exceptional achievement in paddlesports!

We are now accepting nominations for all of our open categories. Finalist will be invited to the award show for the honor of taking home the much acclaimed “Golden Paddle.” If you would like to nominate an athlete who has excelled in their sport[s] and/or an individual/professional who have made a significant contribution to paddlesports of-the-water, please submit your nomination before the 21 October 2018 deadline.

Note: One submission per form; you can submit as many different nominees as you choose.

This year, the fifth annual World Awards ceremony will be held in London, England February/Macrh 2019. Make sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss the best paddlesport awards out there!

Introduction of the 'Team of the Year' award
As from 2018. Best performance by a team; youth, junior or senior; men, women or mixed and in any non-Olympic discipline (team sport) such as canoe polo, dragon boat, rafting, outrigger or team expeditions.

The World Paddle Awards
The WPA is a global award ceremony celebrating remarkable prowess, success, results, and accomplishments by men, women, boys, and girls, not just in the Olympic disciplines of canoe slalom and canoe sprint, but across every paddlesport discipline for achievement within the watersports industry itself.

Award categories are: Sportsman, Sportswoman, Lifetime Achievement, Junior, Team, Industry Professional, Media Professional and the Foundation award. 

Voting: What happens next?
Once the open nomination process ends, the WPA Academy will select 5-8 candidates in each category. Those selections will be publicly released on the WPA website, Facebook, and Twitter shortly after the 21 October 2018 nomination deadline.

Once announced, you can then ‘like’, ‘tweet’, ‘Google+’ your selections to win at the bottom of each nominee’s profile. There will also be a special ‘like’ button available if you do not use social media.

In December, after collation of the Public and Academy vote, the top-3 finalists from each category will be revealed on the WPA website. Public voting will remain open until approximately mid-November 2018. Once the overall results are tallied, winners will be declared publicly at the 2019 award ceremony.
